The days of vertical career paths in single organisations disappeared at the end of last century creating the need for individuals to manage their own career or have it (mis)managed for them. Most individuals newly employed today will have more than six specific careers with multiple organisations, many in roles which do not yet exist in today’s job market.
To successfully manage your career it is critical to understand yourself. This includes your values, interests, skills, capabilities and achievements.
This 90 minute interactive will enable you to better understand yourself and your achievements to establish a career objective. You will develop all the ingredients for a successful career management plan and implementation methodology. This includes clear written and verbal communication to ensure those you contact understand you and your career history, the benefits you bring as an employee and how they can assist you to implement your career plan.
Participation in the interactive and implementing the plan will set you up well to have the career you want.

Bruce started life as a sportsman in a country town and chose to follow one of his earliest role models into his initial career as a physical education teacher. This was the start of a successful journey through 6 distinct professional careers, including 20+ years in senior executive roles within ASX listed and international businesses. Bruce has experienced great enjoyment – and some frustration – through the proactive management of his career.

I trained to be a PE teacher as it was a job I knew, and fortunately I loved it for a decade. Since that time I have largely managed my own career with the associated bumps and twists along the way, but it has been shaped and managed; not left to chance.

Bruce’s most recent corporate role was Managing Director of a what became Australia’s most successful career management business. He led a team of 100+ career coaches whilst personally providing career guidance and coaching to a large number of senior executives from a broad spectrum of sectors.

Privately Bruce has provided guidance and structure to hundreds of people at all stages of their career to enable them to have a career they choose.

The Managing your own Career Interactive comprises:

  • Understanding yourself: including your values, interests, skills, capabilities and achievements.
  • Determining where you want your career to lead, building a plan to achieve this and implementing the plan.

‘Simple to plan requiring determination to do’ is my mantra, and this creates the focus for people to plan clearly and manage their actions.

Bruce is passionate about assisting individuals, organisations and communities to identify and fulfil their potential. He commits his professional and personal expertise to making this happen.

Bruce is best known in his community endeavours for supporting young people in their quest to create lives they are proud of, and love. Bruce is rejuvenated by ocean swimming, bushwalking, and his family and friends.
