‘Talking Stars’ was launched to generous applause at the National NILS Conference on May 12th & 13th 2011.
Redgum Communications, together with Thrive Sustainability Services developed a training program for microfinance workers to enable them to help their clients make sustainable choices when purchasing items such as washing machines, TVs and cars.
The microfinance workers themselves star in the training videos, which were produced by James Freemantle, with Peter Reidy on camera and Luke McDade editing. These videos harnessed the collective knowledge of the microfinance workers, who then become an integral part of their own training.
Redgum Communications also shot three information videos, which will be published on the Good Shepherd website. These videos explain – in a typically Redgum engaging and fun way – how making sustainable choices can save money and benefit the environment.
A training booklet, posters and information booklet were also produced to support the training, which will be rolled out around Victoria over the next few months.
An army of people and organisations were involved. Thanks to Sustainability Victoria, NAB, Good Shepherd Youth & Family Service – Tim Wong, Michelle Sainsbery et al – and the microfinance workers, Jo Saleeba from Thrive Sustainability Services, Jo Lauritz from Juice Graphics, photographer James Lauritz, Michael Collins Motors, Retravision South Melbourne, actors Des Dowling and Andrea Powell and the Redgum crew for helping make it all happen.
